Dr. Vincent Michaud

Dr. Vincent Michaud, NASA deputy chief health and medical officer, will deliver the keynote address on Tuesday, May 18, from 10 a.m. to noon EDT. His presentation will cover such COVID-related issues as the impact of the pandemic on mission schedules, center health and safety, vaccine supply and its effect on employees, return to on-site work, work travel, progress against the pandemic, and more.
Dr. Vincent Michaud Biography
Dr. Michaud is responsible for the oversight of all health and medical activities at NASA, including medical aspects of all national and international NASA missions involving humans. He holds a medical degree from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas and completed residencies in aerospace medicine and occupational medicine at the U.S. Air Force School of Aerospace Medicine at Brooks Air Force Base in Texas. A fellow of the Aerospace Medical Association, he is certified by the American Board of Preventive Medicine. He has extensive experience in the clinical practice of aerospace medicine and occupational medicine as well as in administrative medical management.
Dr. Michaud retired from the Air Force in 2012 after serving for 26 years. He served in a wide variety of settings as a clinical practitioner and medical leader, including commanding the only chemically and biologically hardened hospital in South Korea. Dr. Michaud attained an Air Force flight rating of chief flight surgeon, logging more than 1,100 hours in more than 25 different military aircraft. His military decorations include the Legion of Merit Medal and the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Excellence in Medicine Award. Dr. Michaud is also a designated Federal Aviation Administration aviation medical examiner.
