Assists in the implementation of the technical authority on aerospace quality assurance related matters, advising top management, staff and operating officials, and supervisors on issues, principles and techniques of quality assurance, parts assurance, radiation assurance, and materials assurance for flight and ground system hardware elements.  Helps to provides management and technical direction of Quality Engineering and Engineering Assurance functions.  Contributes to the comprehensive and integrated Quality Engineering Program throughout the lifecycle phases of  GSFC programs and projects.

Materials and Processes Assurance Engineer, Code 373

Responsible for independent verification of material and process (M&P) requirements and implementation for GSFC projects.  Leads risk-based assessments and decisions on issues, concerns, and special applications of M&P that are both specific to individual projects and/or cross cutting across the Center and Agency.  Advises on a range of M&P related areas such as metallurgy, nondestructive inspection, failure analysis, coatings, contamination control,  and workmanship.  Provides expertise in planning and implementation of systematic approaches to prevent M&P related performance problems in design, fabrication, test, and launch prep, and flight.
