Dann Brown

Dann Brown is the Assistant Director for Engineering Safety and Compliance Management in the Engineering and Technology Directorate/Code 500.  In this role Dann serves as the Code 500 representative to the Center’s Management System Committee, where he gets to review way too many directives.

Since coming to Goddard in 2007, Dann has worked on a number of in-house and contractor-built instruments and observatories including the Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO) and the Global Precipitation Measurement (GPM) spacecraft.  He has served as the Chief Safety and Mission Assurance Officer (CSO) on the Thermal Infrared Sensor (TIRS) instrument, the Landsat Data Continuity Mission (LDCM) now Landsat-8, and the Advanced Topographic Laser Altimeter System (ATLAS) instrument, which is currently on-orbit on the second Ice, Cloud, and Land Elevation Satellite (ICESat-2).

Prior to joining GSFC, Dann held positions in a number of industries, providing him a broad technical background in engineering, project management, quality and reliability.  He has worked at manufacturing facilities across the country in the automotive, computer, medical device and aerospace industries.  He graduated from the University of Rochester during the last century with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
